Female Pattern Hair Loss

Pattern hair loss occurs in both men and women when the hair follicle shrinks over time that it doesn’t grow new hair. This type of loss can be hereditary. The symptoms of pattern baldness include a widening of the centre hair on top, thinning/ balding on crown and receding the M shape on the front line.

Male Pattern Baldness

It is normal to lose hair, but extensive hair loss can be upsetting for some people. We lose between 50-100 hair a day, often without noticing. If the follicles are weak and the hair doesn’t grow back, the hair look very thin and noticeable. There are medical supplements to increase the hair thickness or stimulate the growth, however they might not always work as expected.

Alopecia

Alopecia is hair loss or balding and may happen on any part of the body. There are many types of alopecia, some types cause temporary hair loss and your hair will grow back. With other types, hair loss can get worse and become permanent. Family history may increase likelihood as well.

Hair Transplant Scar

Hair transplant scars can be noticeable with short or even long hair. FUT (Follicular Unit Transplant) is performed by removing a thin line of the scalp on the back side of the head which leaves a permanent scar. FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) can cause damaged donor area, which is the back side of the head, if the hair follicles are over harvested.

Over-Styling Hair Loss

Vigorous styling and chemical hair treatments over the years can cause permanent damage on the hair follicles. Examples of extreme styling include tight braids, hair weaves or corn rows as well as chemical relaxers to straighten your hair, hot-oil treatments or any kind of harsh chemical or high heat. Because these practices can actually affect the hair root, your hair might not grow back.
